Hello Everyone!
On behalf of the Board of Directors of the Recreational Hockey Calgary Association, welcome to another exciting season of hockey!
As we hit the ice this week, I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who has worked so hard behind the scenes to get us here.
First and foremost, a huge shoutout to our incredible Age Group Coordinators. These dedicated volunteers have spent countless hours forming balanced teams to ensure fair, competitive, and fun games for all players and coaches. Their work is rooted in deep analysis—using player data from the Hockey Calgary system, our own registration info, and the recent U13/U15 sorting skate results—while also doing their best to honor reciprocated friend requests. It’s a challenging job, and unless you’ve done it, it’s hard to fully appreciate just how much effort and care goes into it. Please take a moment to thank your coordinator—you’ll be glad you did!
If you’re looking for a way to give back, we could use a few more hands to help keep things running smoothly; particularly in our U18 and Junior divisions. If you’re able to lend a hand to support our Age Group Coordinators from now through the end of the season, we’d love to hear from you. Please reach out to me at president@rechockeycalgary.com or our VP, Linnaea Harrison, at vicepresident@rechockeycalgary.com to let us know you’re interested.
A massive thank you as well to Cathy, our Registrar, who has done an exceptional job coordinating registration for over 800 players, ensuring coaching requirements are met, and leading the rollout of our new TeamLinkt system (replacing TeamSnap). She’s a true pro, and we’re incredibly fortunate to have her.
Let’s also recognize Curtis, our Equipment Coordinator, who’s been working tirelessly all summer to ensure everything is ready to go—jerseys, socks, pucks, cones… you name it. Thank you, Curtis!
And to our Sorting Skates team—Jasmine (Sorting Skates Coordinator), Dan (Player Development Coordinator), and all the rink-side volunteers—thank you for organizing and executing the U13/U15 sessions so smoothly. Your efforts make a real difference in getting our U13 and U15 players placed properly and fairly.
We're also proud to share that RHC continues to grow! We’ve seen nearly a 10% increase in registrations this year—a clear testament to the strength, community, and value of our league.
As the season officially kicks off, I want to give a huge thank you to our volunteer coaches and our soon-to-be-named team managers. From here on out, it’s largely in your capable hands—and we know our players will thrive under your direction. Your commitment to creating a positive, inclusive, and fun environment is what makes RHC so special.
Finally, I encourage all members—players, parents, and coaches—to take a few minutes to review our updated policies and procedures, available on our website (rechockeycalgary.com) . Staying informed helps ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone.
Wishing all our players, coaches, and families the best season ever. Let’s support one another, enjoy the game, and make great memories together.
