Happy New Year, RHC players, coaches, and parents!

Welcome back to the rink — we hope everyone had a fun and restful holiday season! 

Most, if not all, teams are back in action this weekend. 

And, of course, we’re gearing up for one of the most exciting traditions in Calgary hockey: Esso Minor Hockey Week, running January 9–17.

Your first couple of games should already appear in TeamLinkt, but please note that the remaining games depend on how those early matchups go. That means your team could be hitting the ice at various points during the week — so keep your calendars flexible and maybe hold off on booking that ski trip just because the weekend of January 17th looks open!

I also want to take a moment to address something important. During the first half of the season, we’ve unfortunately seen some behaviours that don’t reflect the RHC philosophy — including players fighting, coach ejections, and multiple player suspensions. A friendly reminder that while our league is competitive and we all love a spirited game, respect and sportsmanship are non-negotiable. Let’s make sure RHC continues to be a place where everyone — players, coaches, officials, and families — can enjoy the great game of hockey in a positive environment.

Looking forward in 2026, your Board will have a few vacancies coming up for the 2026-2027 season, so stay tuned for a new Board member call-out coming up later in January.  

Also, after completing a comprehensive RHC Policy update in 2025, your Board will be working on updating our RHC Bylaws in the first half of 2026.  Perhaps not the most exciting activity, but it's important you are aware that your Board is working hard in the background to keep the machine running.
